Don’t forget we are open every Second Saturday of the month 10.00am to 1.00pm for you to drop in and access our Archive.

Free of Charge

Building on the work of our predecessors, starting with the Collingham Museum Committee in 1975, we have continued developing our archive which currently encompasses some 5,000, largely unique, local documents.

These range from collections of old photographs, through manorial documents, estate maps and descriptions, house deeds, local family and business documents to informal autobiographies, family stories, oral history recordings and contemporary research to reports on local archaeology and our test pit digs. All kept under appropriate archival conditions.

The Centre includes a small open meeting area on the wall of which you can see a full sized reproduction of the North Collingham pre-enclosure map of 1795, complete with details of the strip fields that remained at that time, details of buildings, land ownership and some of the old road names. The original was gifted to the Society. We paid for its repair and conservation and because of its value we have loaned it to Nottinghamshire Archives for safe keeping.

This open area will be used to run a number of local history workshops, seminars and small exhibitions – so keep an eye open on this website, local noticeboards and social media.

So, if you are interested in the history of your House, Local Family, Farms, Shops, Soldiers, Events …the list is endless. Are you just curious and fancy a chat? Or perhaps you have something to donate? Come along on the Second Saturday of each month. We can also arrange private visits for individuals or small groups.

Welcome to Collingham History Centre!
